My elderly father-in-law had been searching for a very long time for a walker that met all of his expectations: lightweight, easy to maneuver, and incredibly transportable. After diligent research, he found the Carbon Ultralight Walker and loved it.
Knowing my father was also looking for a high-quality walker that could easily be folded into the back seat or trunk of my car, I called Brooke looking for help. She was incredible and patient, answering all my questions and replying quickly to emails. I purchased the Carbon Overland Walker for my dad, which is a little heavier than the Ultralight, but still easy to pack up and move. My father likes the more rugged-looking tires and army green color, both of which make it easy to differentiate his walker from all the other black walkers in his senior community. He's also a big fan of the bigger wheels and light weight, and with the addition of the cup and cane holders, it still fits perfectly in the back seat of my small SUV. It's easy to handle, whereas my father's old walker was too big and difficult to maneuver. He won't leave his home without it, and I even customized it with name tag stickers in case it gets left behind by accident.
I do have a few notes that would drastically improve the walker. My father is 6 feet tall, and the walker is a bit too short for him, although Brooke assured me it would work. I wish it were made taller to better accommodate him in his older age. Because of the height issue, he only uses the walker when we go out, opting for his heavier walker with a greater height for his daily activities at his senior community. Quality was also an issue, as the cane holder snapped off immediately upon use. We had to get creative and use Velcro to hold the cane in place. The cup holder is also too small to hold a standard-size water bottle, which is quite frustrating. It only fits a small cup, thus limiting its use even further. The bag is also a bit small and falls off easily from its little holders; if there were a way to create a bigger bag and a better system to secure it, that would be great! It currently falls off each time we close it up. The small zipper on the smaller bag is also difficult for my father to use.
Overall, the Carbon Overland Walker has made outings with my father much easier, and I feel confident knowing we can bring the walker with us anywhere we go due to its compact size and light weight. With a few tweaks, it would be the perfect fit for everyday needs.
